Questions And Answers On Natural Healing Remedy

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Elizabeth asks…

What is a natural remedy for healing scars? Like dog claw scratches?

I have tried vitamin e oil, and some scar lotion, but I can’t tell if they are working. Also, I read that Zinc helps skin heal, and I take that.

admin answers:

I was going to say the vitamin E thing. Umm, I have a really ugly scratch on my leg from when my dog was a puppy, and the thing that has worked the best is Mederma (and time).

Charlie asks…

I am looking for some natural pain remedies/natural healing remedies after a surgery?

Can anyone recommend something natural to help pain or speed a healing recovery after an adult tonsillectomy?

admin answers:

Well best natural remedies for post surgery are bromelain and arnica montanta. Bromelain is made from pineapples and help in the digestion of protiens which help aid in healing and they are great regarding inflammation, they have anti-inflammatory agents which help with pain and swelling. Bromlain also help reduces scaring because of it healing properties. And arnica is good for pain and helps reduces bruising and soreness.flaxseed oil is also good it reduces pain and inflammation and is great for recovery.

Questions And Answers On Dog Allergies Natural Remedies

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Mark asks…

Natural remedies for dog allergies?

Okay so my lab/pit mix is 8 years old and has suffered severe allergies her whole life. She is currently on an antihistamine but I would like to find some possible natural remedies for her as she is aging and all medicines end up affecting the body in bad ways. I am tired of her loosing her hair every summer which she does even though medicated. As for what her allergies are you can pretty much name it. Grass, trees, sand, and pretty much anything dealing with the outdoors. So does anyone have any ideas on how I can make her life a little easier?

admin answers:

I agree with the other contributors but would also add that if it is a skin condition, try getting a couple pounds of oatmeal, a drain catcher, and put it in a bath with the dog. This should help soothe the skin just like humans use it. Another thing to try is apple cider vinegar on the areas.. Its a natural antiseptic and also soothes the areas. My jack russell has skin allergies on her feet and i completely agree about the medication… I dont like giving it to my dog and would rather try anything natural first! Also, if u do switch the diet to a more natural and holistic food, make sure you do the same for treats!!

Good luck!!

Jim asks…

Is there anyone who uses a natural remedy for dog allergies?

My boxer has red bumps on her belly, yeasty paws and ears, and she is always scratching herself. I have done shots, given her lamb and rice dog food, given her endless medications, and bathed her with anti- bacterial shampoo, and nothing ever works! I however have no allergies, sorry for the confussion.

admin answers:

Allergies to what? That’s a pretty broad question. In order to answer this question appropriately, you need to tell us what is causing the problem, so this is going to be a long answer and a lot of it won’t be applicable. Before you give any herbs (or the like) to your dog you need to find out what can be toxic to your dog, each case varies and failing to adjust the drug dosage, or changing it too much, could be disastrous. If your dog has a condition that you didn’t mention such as kidney, heart, liver, pregnant, or thyroid diseases, you would have to consult your vet. A LOT of things need to be taken into consideration such as your dogs general health, amount of herbs given, trusted sources (be weary of products from other countries), interactions with certain drugs, herbs are generally not meant for long-term use, and allergies to herbs are always possible.

FOOD ALLERGY TRIAL
When you gave your dog the “lamb and rice” diet, did you buy it already made or did you make it yourself, because it’s best to do it home-made?
8-week diet trial:
¼ pound lamb or tofu
1 cup cooked white rice
¼ to ½ teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon bonemeal, ground oystershell, or calcium carbonate powder
1 daily vitamin supplement (human or canine)
Recipe feeds a 10-20 pound dog for one day. Increase amounts according to weight.
When deciding to use tofu or lamb, choose the ingredient that your dog has never eaten in the past. If your dog has eaten both, try pinto beans, venison, rabbit, or turkey. Provide only spring water, no treats or other food sources (including beef-flavored heartworm preventives). This diet is not meant for long-term use.
OR..
1 part cooked, skinless chicken breast or low-fat cottage cheese
2 parts cooked white rice
Pancreatic/digestive enzyme and probiotic supplement that contains lactobacillus.
Be sure to add fresh vegetables and vary the ingredients for a long-term diet plan. If your dog has food allergies, look for a probiotic without dairy, wheat, corn, or animal products.

EAR DISEASES Common causes of ear disease; foreign bodies (foxtails), fleas and flea allergies, environmental allergies, food allergies, ear mites, inherited seborrhea, glandular problems, yeast infections (often secondary to the above problems) chronic dampness, reaction to drugs, improper ear cleaning, immune disorders, prolonged use of antibiotics.
Symptoms; scratching, shaking the head, head tilt, repeatedly ducking or bobbing the head while swallowing, sensitive to touch, redness, offensive odor or discharge, bloody discharge, heavy accumulation of wax, crusts or scab on the tips of the ear.
When allergies are uncontrolled, they can lead to bacterial or yeast infections, chronic odor, and painful skin sores.

NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT (but make sure your dog isn’t allergic to the ingredients):
• Change to a home-prepared diet (due to food allergies)
• Enzyme supplements (especially helpful w/ hair loss and crustiness on the skin)
• Add fatty acid supplements (excellent for inflammatory skin conditions)
• Antioxidants (helps with skin inflammation and allergies) Vitamin E
• Melatonin (hair loss) FYI, Boxers who have sparse hair year round may also respond.
• Vitamin A (suppress overactive skin glands
• Zinc (assists several immune mechanisms and some skin conditions)

HOMEOPATHY (all of which are used for various reasons so you need to find the cause or decide what your treating); Arsenicum, Calc. Sulph., Hepar, Ledum, Rhus tox., Silicea, Sulphur, Thuja, Urtica urens
HERBS (all of which are used for various reasons so you need to find the cause or decide what your treating); Aloe vera, Calendula, Calendula-hypericum lotion or ointment, Green or black tea, Witch hazel
HERBS TO USE W/ CAUTION; Black walnut, comfrey, ephedra, garlic, gingko, pennyroyal, red clover, st. Johns wort, tea tree oil.

When SHAMPOOING, look for hypoallergenic shampoos, avoiding products made with artificial colors, fragrances, and other chemicals. Ingredients with oatmeal and aloe vera help w/ itchy skin and allergic skin disease. Benzoyl peroxide, aloe vera, and tea tree oil help with chronic bacterial skin infections. Acetic acid, boric acid, sulfur, selenium, and vinegar help with chronic yeast and fungal infections. Sulfur and pyrethrins help with external parasites.

If you have any more questions, you can email me directly and I’ll look it up for ya. Good luck taking care of your baby.

Questions And Answers On Natural Headache Remedies While Pregnant

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Nancy asks…

Any natural remedies to help overcome sickness while pregnant?

I have been battling a cold for quite some time, probably going on 3 weeks with a bad productive cough, headache, stuffy nose, tiredness, and on and off fever only as high as 101 though. I’ve been to my doctor and obstetrician and they said I do need to get better before I deliver the baby, but I was wondering how?! I’ve obviously been trying to get better, i’ve been resting as much as I can and been drinking lots of fluids but I can’t take any medicine so I was wondering if you have any good natural remedies to get rid of a nasty cold? Thank you in advance!

admin answers:

Try getting a humidifier for your room. It will help with your congestion. Take warm baths, and try to imagine yourself overcoming the sickness. (A lot of times, people stay sick because they think about it ALL THE TIME). Continue everything you are doing now plus the things I have suggested. I’m surprised your doctors haven’t told you it’s alright to take Tylenol while pregnant. As long as you don’t go over the recommended dose. This should be beneficial to you, since you have a fever. The risk of Tylenol is less than the risk to your baby of having a fever while pregnant.

Good luck darlin’

Mandy asks…

Constant Headaches/Natural Rememdies?

Does anyone know of any natural remedies for headaches while pregnant. I get enough sleep, enough to eat, to drink, etc. I am not stressed out…I just keep a headache.

admin answers:

If you are okay with ingesting the safe amount of caffeine, i’d try that. I had vicious headches my entire second trimester (after the 4 months of vomiting…but i digress), and the only think that worked was black tea or coffee. Up to 350 mg is safe. A cup of black tea has about 60; a regular cup of coffee has about 125.
Sorry…i feel for you. Oh, also: acupuncture will work even better if you have the access to it. I highly recommend it. Almost guarantee it.

Questions And Answers On Migraine And Natural Remedies

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Shelley asks…

What is a natural remedy for migraines?

I heard some sort of hormone therapy helped. Does anyone have any ideas? I’m tired of taking medication and feeling like I’m being “drugged up” all of the time.

admin answers:

Hi “A work in progress.” The lemon can be your best friend when you have a common headache. Simply cut a long strip of the rind and put it on your forehead – rub in the inside white part and then fasten it to your head. Sure, you’ll look a little nutty but who cares as long as it gets rid of the ache!

Also Butterbur Extract. Butterbur extract can help prevent a migraine. Scientists discovered Butterbur extract has the ability to prevent blood vessel expansion during a migraine, while also preventing inflammation which can intensify the migraine experience.

Relieving tension can often relieve migraine headaches. Tension can be relieved in many ways such as by taking a warm bath or shower, lying down in a quiet dark room to rest, putting something cold on the back of the neck (at the base of the skull) or having someone massage your neck muscles and possibly your temporal region to help relieve your tension and muscle spasms.

There are many other natural treatments available to migraine headache patients including the Soothe-A-Ciser Migraine Headaches Cushion. This pillow was designed by a chiropractor to help correct neck problems that can cause headaches.

Lisa asks…

Does any one else have Crohn’s Disease?

I’m 13 years old and I have Crohn’s Disease along with R.S.D. and also Juvenile Arthritis. I could possibly have lupus. I’ve finally figured out how to control most of the Crohn’s Disease flare-ups with natural remedies but my other problems are full fledged still! RSD, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, will literally make my legs turn blue, cause me to lose any feeling in my legs and arms and I cannot use my legs sometimes when the flare-ups are really bad! Juvenile Arthritis is something else I could possibly have. No doctor has confirmed it, yet and I’ve had to travel out of town to see rheumotoligists before because the ones in my town didn’t know what to do with my conditions!!!

When I was 6, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Now keep in mind that this was after coming to the hospital about twice a week for about 4 years because my Crohn’s flare-ups were so bad! My mom is a redhead, I like to call her hothead!, and thankfully she won’t take no for an answer!! She was extremely persistent in trying to find the cause in my horrible stomach pain even though almost every time we went to the doctor, they would tell her I was just fine! This was all before I was diagnosed. Eventually, she found a doctor that somewhat understood what we were going through (mainly her at the time, because I was very young) and tried all the possible treatments that could help ease the disease. Even today, there is no cure for Crohn’s Disease!! At 6, the doctor that helped us diagnosed me with Crohn’s Disease and put me through a series of medications including some that children aren’t allowed to take. I took Methotrexate for a long period of time and cannot think of the other medications right now. I now have to wear glasses because of the medicines I took and my family and I are pretty sure that the medications I took caused my other conditions. We’re pretty much certain that the medicines cause my RSD.

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) is an illness that causes the lower and upper extremities to turn a bluish color and causes the extremities to become numb. When I first had a flare-up, it was when I was 11 and my parents thought it was a blood clot. So did the doctors. We went through a series of tests that day because I had to go to the hospital. I was admitted for a week and during that time, I had to get an epidural!!! Yes, that thing pregnant women get! I had to get it because my legs were hurting so bad they had to numb them! We’re still not sure if what I have is RSD, but it’s all we got for now!

I know this is long and sorry but I only gave you two of my illnesses! lol If any one else has any thing I have, please give me tips on how to control it! Anything will help!!Thank you!!!

admin answers:

Hi there. I don’t have Crohne’s Disease, but I’m 25 and I’ve had Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (the correct name for RSD) since I was 14. It started in my right knee following a minor operation, but it now affects almost my whole body and ahs put me in a wheelchair because of some of its secondary effects that no amount of physio or medication has been able to counteract. I’ve never heard of medications causing CRPS/RSD – it’s almost always initiated by some sort of injury or other trauma.

I wish that I could tell you how to control it – I’ve been through pretty much every recognised treatment with no real success. I guess that my only advice for what it’s worth is to take each day as it comes and to recognise that you are going to have bad days. Don’t give up by any means, but know your limits and boundaries, and know when it is time to say ‘okay’ I’ve had enough and when it is okay to push yourself that little bit harder.

If I can help in any way, please feel free to email me.

treatments for scalp posriasis?

i have had psoriasis for 10 years. i have tried dermarest, skin zinc, tgel and dozens of other products.

i have found dermatologists to not even really care about what you need but just giving you an expensive prescription (or several) you can’t keep.

anyone out there know of anything natural that works well for them? i heard this thing about the inside of bananas being used as a treatment (by rubbing on the scales) and i myself have an aloe plant which works very well.

admin answers:

There’s no need to put up with Scalp Psoriasis, many sufferers have eliminated it but it does take the effort of changing Diet. Psoriasis isn’t viral nor is it contagious (if it was the moon would be populated by now) so you are feeding it by what you are eating or drinking. Sure the Aloe, etc eases the itch etc, but isn’t better to eliminate the cause instead of attacking the symptoms. Psoriasis is Avoidable simply by avoiding processed foods or drinks which have food addictive Ascorbic Acid (300), Calcium Ascorbate (E302), Citric Acid (330), Food Acid (330) For more understanding type in “Acrylamide-calcium protease” (psoriasis) in search bar.

Questions And Answers On Allergies Natural Remedies Nasal

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Davina asks…

Any suggestions for severe nasal stuffiness from allergies? I’m pregnant and want to use all natural remedies?

admin answers:

The perfect solution is using the neti pot. Its like this jeani lamp looking thing that you put salt water in and you poor it down your nose to clean it out. It sounds kind of gross but it works just as good as medicine if not better. In fact a lot of people don’t have to use medicine because they use the neti pot.

You can find it at walmart in the cosmetic section. It will have salt packets included with the pot. It works perfect for me because it cleans out all of the pollen in my nose that makes me sick. It’s just good hygiene. :P

John asks…

what is a good natural remedy for nasal congestion?

symptons include stuffy nose, but no cold or other infections. sometimes drainage. may be allergy related, but does not want to take prescription or over-the-counter medicines
I’m asking this for my son – he is an adult and was using nasal sprays, but became addicted to them. He quit using them about 3 weeks ago, and cleared up, but still gets some congestion and does not want to use sprays again. Any other suggestions? or possibly some herb that works within the system instead of topical applications?

admin answers:

Nasal sprays and antibiotics only give you a bit of temporary relief and nasal sprays can actually damage your sinuses.

Dairy products are mucus generating foods so switching to soy milk will help.

The natural antibiotics coloidal silver and garlic oil (odourless capsules) will also help if you take them every day.

Even apple cider vinegar every day helps a bit.
